Renovating The Kitchen? 4 Elements To Ensure The Perfect Space

Timmothy Mitchelle

If you're updating your home and you want to get everything right, make sure you add the right features. You might think that standard features will provide you with everything you need, but that's not the case. You actually need to include features that go above and beyond the basics. While you're planning things like kitchen layout, appliances and cupboard placement, consider the four additional elements described below. These elements will help take your new kitchen to the next level of comfort and ease of use.

Choose the Right Flooring

When it comes to redesigning your kitchen, make sure you choose the right flooring. You're going to be spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Because of that, you want to choose a flooring that's water-resistant, scrubbable and low-maintenance. You also want to choose a flooring that's durable and easy on the feet. There are several options to choose from, including timber, tile and hybrid. If you're looking for a flooring that meets all of your kitchen requirements, hybrid flooring might be your best option. Hybrid flooring is easy to maintain, durable and comfortable under the feet.

Add Glass Splashbacks

If you want your new kitchen to be aesthetically pleasing and easy to maintain, you'll want to choose the right splashbacks. You might not realise this, but splashbacks protect your walls from heat and moisture damage, as well as from grease splatters. However, some splashbacks are easier to maintain, which is where glass splashbacks come into the picture. Glass splashbacks protect your walls from damage while reducing the amount of time you need to spend on maintenance.

Improve the Ventilation

Now that you're ready to design your new kitchen, don't forget about the ventilation. You might not realise this, but proper ventilation is essential for your kitchen. Without proper ventilation, moisture can build up, which increases the risk for mould growth. Luckily, there are a couple of ways to improve ventilation in your new kitchen. First, upgrade the kitchen hood to include a heavy-duty extractor. The extractor will ensure improved ventilation in your kitchen. Second, include plenty of windows in your new kitchen. The added windows will help provide plenty of fresh air and ventilation for your kitchen.

Get the Lighting Right

When it comes to designing the perfect kitchen, you can't afford to cut corners on the lighting. You might think that overhead lighting is all you'll need, but that's not the case. For maximum benefit, you should also include under-the-cupboard lighting, as well as ground-level lighting to protect your feet at night.

Improving our home flow

Our home has been added to over the last few decades in a lot of little ways, with small additions and extensions. We have enough space overall, but the house doesn't flow very all, as we have all of these little rooms, and they are all joined together in funny ways that don't entirely make sense in terms of how we use the house. That's why we are taking out some of the entries and walls and creating living zones and spaces that suit us. This blog is all about how to transform your house from a mismatch of rooms into a modern home.
